Remember when Blockbuster was a thing, going to rent movies on a Friday night and buying snacks for a chill night in?

In 2013 blockbuster closed due to going into bankruptcy. By that time Netflix became extremely popular. Netflix started out with DVD rentals and as Blu-ray became more popular they started those types of movie rentals.  In 2013 Netflix expanded their horizon by making TV series and Netflix original movies, which you could stream from the website itself instead of DVD rentals.  Netflix is so popular it operates in over 180 countries.

“I love Netflix,” Francesca Tabor, 12 said. “It has many different series with all the seasons, more than any other streaming website, such as Hulu.”

Some of the known original series on Netflix as of 2017 are Stranger Things(2016), Narcos (2015), Orange is the New Black (2013), and House of Cards(2013).

In 2016, Netflix made it to where certain shows can be downloaded and streamed without wifi service. Netflix is the only streaming website that does that for now. Hulu still hasn’t come that far.

“My favorite Netflix original series is ‘The Killing’ because it’s intriguing and I love the suspense,” Amir Robinson, 12 said.

“Although ‘Gossip Girl’ is not a Netflix original series, that is one of my favorite series on Netflix,” Tia Williams, 11 said. “Netflix has every season of many shows that don’t come on anymore.”

As of October, 2017 Netflix had over 100 million subscribers and many more subscribing each day. Netflix is an amazing way to kill time or just waste time.

Netflix was an amazing idea, I love it,” Jaivon Leali, 12 said. “One thing I can say is they should add more old series that don’t come on TV anymore, such as ‘Fresh Prince’ or old cartoons like ‘Looney Tunes.'”
