HHS teachers gave insight into our high school and its closing.

Mrs. Dukes-Art

What is your opinion on HHS closing?

“It’s devastating. It’s special, all of the programs, so it’s sad for me. It hit me hard when I found out.”

If there’s one thing you could change about your career at HHS what would it be?

“I’m happy and content with all my work at Harrison so far, but I would like to finish my career at Harrison.”

Mrs. Crupi- Science

What is your opinion on HHS closing?

“It’s sad that Harrison is closing. Harrison has good teachers, good students, and a good dynamic.”

 What are you going to do after Harrison closes professionally and personally?

“I will still have a job at Farmington. Personally, I don’t know, for me it’s hard to adjust to a huge change.”

Mr. Vial- English

What has been most challenging for you at HHS?

“My challenge was figuring out how to login and getting to know my way around things.”

What is your opinion on HHS closing?

“We need a sense of community. We’re not built by walls.”

What are you going to do after Harrison closes professionally and personally?

“I’m not sure yet because I’m living in a two year chunk, but I most likely will follow my students. Personally I want to do music, but I’m not sure. I do know that I still am going to be a father!”

Ms. Torres-Spanish

What is your opinion on HHS closing?

“I’m super sad. I’ve  spent half of my life here. It’s my second home. I’ve been at Harrison longer than my actual home.”

What are you going to do after HHS closes professionally and personally?

“Professionally I hope to teach at Farmington. Personally, there’s anxiety where I end up, but kids are kids. You just have to look at the positive. No school will be Harrison for me, but it will be my new home.”

Mr. Carino- Social Studies

What is most challenging about being a teacher?

“The most challenging thing for me is managing my schedule and trying to offer the best of my abilities while working between buildings.”

What is your opinion on HHS closing?

“My  opinion is that it’s a district decision, and that it makes sense financially. Otherwise, it wouldn’t make sense. I think Harrison offers something unique.”
