Seeing him in the the halls and knowing him are two different things. This is our principal, our leader, but many of us don’t actually know what lies beneath the authority figure. Here’s a Q&A to help you get a better idea:

How many kids do you have?

I have 3 children.  Jordan is a sophomore at CMU, Jenni is a 10th grader at Farmington High, and Molly is an 8th grader at Power Middle School.

What is your wife’s name?

My wife’s name is Amy

What’s your favorite song?

I have lots of songs that I like and they change over time.  However I love MoTown, and there is an Elvis song I am fond of.

Were you ever a teacher? If so what did you teach?

I started my career teaching fifth grade on the west side of the state.  When I moved to Farmington, I taught eigth grade science at Power.  I also taught a little US history and a health class.

What’s the most difficult part of your job?

It is very hard to suspend a student.  I went to school to educate students, and in order to do that they need to be here.  Sometimes it is necessary, but it is never easy!

What was your hardest class in high school?

Chemistry, I was terrible at chemistry!

What’s the best part of your job?

The best part of my job is getting to watch kids do what they enjoy and be successful at it.  I really enjoy watching our sports teams, our concerts, and our productions.

Have you ever lived in another state? If so which?

I was born in Michigan but moved to Colorado when I was two years old.  I lived there for eight years before my family moved back to Michigan.

Michigan or state?

I have degrees from both schools, but I like State more.  But the best is the Broncos of Western Michigan!

What’s your favorite home-cooked meal?

I love my mom’s Thanksgiving dinner.  But I also like hamburgers on the grill in the summertime!

What is the best and worst purchases you’ve ever made?

Best purchase, Lexi my Black Lab.  Worst purchase, Lexi my Black Lab! 🙂 Other than her, my old Jeep was probably one of my better purchases that comes to mind.  I had a truck in college that was clearly the WORST purchase I ever made.  It had a lot of problems!

If you could change your name what would you choose? Why?

I like my name, but if I had to change it I would pick something more unique.  There are a lot of James Andersons in the world.

What is your biggest pet peeve?

I get annoyed when I deal with kid behaviors in adults.  For example, when someone is given directions for an assigned task and they don’t read the directions.

Who was your role model growing up? Why?

My dad.  He and I actually butted heads a lot when I was in high school, but I realize I was learning a lot from him.  Now I can see how he helped me become a leader and learn how to deal with people in a respectful way.

What is the worst cereal to eat soggy?

All of them, soggy cereal is gross.  But the worst might be shredded wheat.  Come to think of it, it isn’t really that good when it isn’t soggy either.

Jim Anderson, the superior, the aide, the father, the husband, and everything in between.
