On Monday October 30, 2017, Harrison band and art students were welcomed by tons of water. This left the band and art rooms soaked inches deep in water. This unfortunate situation left HHS students wondering, what happened?

The incident occurred on Friday, 10/27 when the custodians were fixing the draining system by flushing the sinks with water that were clogged with clay  from the pottery class. When they were unclogging the drain, all the clay was not taken from the system and the water was left on, causing the sink to overflow. As a result of the water from the art room draining into the band and percussion room, all of the instruments and other items had to be removed and placed onto the stage in the auditorium.

The choir teacher, Mr. Schroeder,  said “It was an overflowing sink in the art room that ran overnight and water overflowed in the sink that was not draining properly, and so of course it drained on the floor, which drained into the band room and the percussion room.”

“It was an accident,” Schroeder said. “What we think happened is because of the water situation last week the custodians were flushing the lines and all of the bad water out and they must have let it run and kept it on  when they were filling up the sink. The sink was supposed to be draining, and it was not draining properly, and that’s why it overflowed into the room. We walked into a raining room. It was raining all over the place.”

Now that we have  had this experience,  HHS knows what preventative measures to take so this will not happen again.
